Brief Introduction   

The Stomach Meridian is one of the twelve regular meridians, one of the three Yang meridians of the foot. Superiorly, it connects to the Large Intestine Meridian of Hand-Yangming beside the nose; inferiorly, it meets the Spleen Meridian of Foot-Taiyin at the medial end of the big toe. The meridian runs over the face, chest, and anterior-lateral aspect of the lower limb. The first point is Chengqi (ST1), the last point is Lidui (ST45), with 45 points on each side. It mainly treats disorders of the stomach and intestines (digestive system), as well as certain conditions of the nervous system, respiratory system, circulatory system, and disorders of the throat, head, face, mouth, teeth, nose, and other organs, as well as conditions along the pathway of this meridian.


Point Descriptions


1.   Chengqi (ST1) – meeting point of Yangqiao, Ren, and Stomach Meridians – eyelid twitching, epiphora due to wind, night blindness, myopia, facial paralysis, facial spasm

2.   Sibai (ST2) – red, painful and itchy eyes, eyelid twitching, corneal opacity, facial paralysis, facial pain, facial spasm, headache, dizziness

3.   Juliao (ST3) – meeting point of the Stomach and Large Intestine Meridians – mouth deviation, facial pain, epistaxis, toothache, lip and cheek swelling

4.   Dicang (ST4) – meeting point of the Stomach and Large Intestine Meridians – mouth deviation, drooling, facial pain, toothache

5.   Daying (ST5) – mouth deviation, cheek swelling, toothache

6.   Jiache (ST6) – toothache, difficulty opening the mouth, cheek swelling, mouth deviation

7.   Xiaguan (ST7) – meeting point of the Stomach and Gallbladder Meridians – difficulty opening the mouth, facial pain, toothache, facial paralysis, deafness, tinnitus, otorrhea

8.   Touwei (ST8) – meeting point of the Stomach, Gallbladder, and Yangwei Meridians – headache, dizziness, eye pain

9.   Reying (ST9) – goiter, scrofula, sore throat, hypertension, dyspnea

10. Shuitu (ST10) – sore throat, loss of voice, cough, dyspnea

11. Qishe (ST11) – sore throat, goiter, scrofula, dyspnea, hiccup, stiff neck

12. Quepen (ST12) – cough, dyspnea, sore throat, pain in the supraclavicular fossa

13. Qihu (ST13) – cough, dyspnea, hiccup, chest pain, chest and hypochondriac fullness
