Brief Introduction   

The Small Intestine Meridian is one of the twelve regular meridians, one of the three Yang meridians of the hand. Superiorly, it connects to the Heart Meridian of Hand-Shaoyin at the little finger; inferiorly, it connects to the Bladder Meridian of Foot-Taiyang at the inner canthus. The meridian runs along the ulnar side of the little finger, the posterior border of the lateral aspect of the upper limb, the posterior shoulder and scapular region, the neck, cheek, outer canthus, ear, and inner canthus. The first point is Shaoze (SI1), the last point is Tinggong (SI19), with 19 points on each side. It mainly treats disorders related to "fluids": deafness, yellow eyes, cheek swelling, and pain in the neck, jaw, scapula, upper arm, and lateral posterior forearm.


Point Descriptions


1.   Shaoze (SI1) – Jing-Well point – breast abscess, low milk production, coma, febrile disease, headache, corneal opacity, sore throat

2.   Qiangu (SI2) – Ying-Spring point – febrile disease, breast abscess, low milk production, headache, eye pain, tinnitus, sore throat

3.   Houxi (SI3) – Shu-Stream point – stiff neck and head, back pain, spasmodic pain of the fingers and elbow/arm, deafness, red eyes, manic-depressive epilepsy, malaria

4.   Wangu (SI4) – Yuan-Primary point – finger spasm and wrist pain, stiff neck and head, corneal opacity, jaundice, febrile disease, malaria

5.   Yanggu (SI5) – Jing-River point – neck and jaw swelling and pain, lateral arm pain, wrist pain, headache, dizziness, tinnitus, deafness, febrile disease, manic-depressive epilepsy

6.   Yanglao (SI6) – Xi-Cleft point – blurred vision, soreness of the shoulder, back, elbow, and arm

7.   Zhizheng (SI7) – Luo-Connecting point – headache, stiff neck, elbow and arm soreness, febrile disease, mania, warts

8.   Xiaohai (SI8) – He-Sea point – elbow and arm pain, numbness, epilepsy

9.   Jianzhen (SI9) – shoulder and arm pain, upper limb paralysis, scrofula

10. Naoshu (SI10) – shoulder and arm pain, inability to raise the shoulder, scrofula

11. Tianzong (SI11) – scapular pain, shoulder and back injury, dyspnea

12. Bingfeng (SI12) – meeting point – scapular pain, soreness and numbness of the upper limb

13. Quyuan (SI13) – scapular pain

14. Jianwaishu (SI14) – shoulder and back pain, stiff neck

15. Jianzhongshu (SI15) – cough, dyspnea, shoulder and back pain

16. Tianchuang (SI16) – tinnitus, deafness, sore throat, sudden loss of voice, stiff neck

17. Tianrong (SI17) – tinnitus, deafness, sore throat, headache, stiff neck
