Brief Introduction
The Conception Vessel is one of the eight extraordinary meridians. It runs over the perineum, the anterior midline of the abdomen, and the lips. It has 24 points, the first being Huiyin (CV1) and the last Chengjiang (CV24). It governs reproduction and is the sea of Yin meridians. It mainly treats Zang-Fu disorders, gynecological disorders, genital disorders, neck and facial disorders, mental disorders, deficiency syndromes, and conditions along its pathway.
Point Descriptions
1. Huiyin (CV1) – Luo-Connecting branch of the Conception Vessel, meeting point with the Governor and Chong Vessels – drowning asphyxia, coma, manic-depressive epilepsy, difficult urination, enuresis, seminal emission, genital pain, genital itching, prolapse of the rectum, prolapse of the uterus, hemorrhoids
2. Qugu (CV2) – meeting point of the Conception and Foot Jueyin Meridians – difficult urination, enuresis, seminal emission, impotence, scrotal dampness and itching, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, red and white leukorrhea
3. Zhongji (CV3) – Front-Mu point of the Bladder – enuresis, difficult urination, urinary retention, seminal emission, impotence, infertility, irregular menstruation, metrorrhagia, prolapse of the uterus, genital itching, infertility, persistent postpartum lochiorrhea, leukorrhea
4. Guanyuan (CV4) – Front-Mu point of the Small Intestine – collapse due to stroke, consumptive cold and exhaustion, emaciation and weakness, lower abdominal pain, hernia, diarrhea, dysentery, prolapse of the rectum, bloody stool, five types of stranguria, hematuria, urinary retention, frequent urination, seminal emission, impotence, premature ejaculation, turbid leukorrhea, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, metrorrhagia, leukorrhea, prolapse of the uterus, lochiorrhea, retained placenta, common point for health preservation moxibustion
